The systematic review and abstract of this thesis are published in The British Journal of Sports Medicine. I have presented findings from this project at numerous National and International conferences, including the IOC conference in Injury and Illness in Sport in Monaco in April 2014.
I began working with Dr. Johnson McEvoy with the Irish High Performance Boxing Unit in November 2011. My role includes; completing weekly clinics with all elite teams, preparing them for all major International competitions, including the First Inaugural European Games in Baku 2015 and Olympic Games in Rio 2016 . I have covered numerous international training camps and tournaments for all elite teams over the past 5 years, including Baku 2015 and summer Olympic Games in Rio 2016.
My previous experience includes: Young Munster’s R.F.C., Galway youth hurling teams, Salthill Devon F.C., and previous Physiotherapy Clinics in Limerick and Galway, where I have developed my clinical skills and gained invaluable experience.
Since qualifying I have completed numerous professional courses including; Myofascial trigger point therapy, Dry Needling, Functional Movement Screening, Donatelli’s shoulder, and Sports traumatology to name a few. I have a keen interest in injury prevention and screening. Additionally I have specialised in the area of Vestibular Rehabilitation, a unique service we provide here at Sandycove Physiotherapy and am the current clinic manager.
I am a keen sports woman with a background including swimming, soccer, kickboxing and sky diving. Currently my interests include Bikram yoga, swimming and tag rugby! I believe in educating a person regarding their injury/ cause of pain and using a multi modal approach in their rehabilitation.
